Holly Matt, is an equine facilities expert, defining facilities with her horse centered approach. Ms. Matt’s expertise includes equine facilities needs analysis, master planning, stable and arena design, land use consulting, footing analysis, and product selection and importing.

In addition to being an accomplished architectural designer with two decades of experience working with commercial, institutional and private clients, Ms. Matt is a lifelong horse enthusiast and equine professional. Raised on a farm in Virginia where horses were bred for race and show, Ms. Matt has competed and officiated in regional, national and international-level horse events in Hunter, Jumper, Dressage and Eventing disciplines for the past 40 years, including competing at USEF National and FEI International levels of Eventing. Being active in the industries she serves allows her to evaluate current trends, technologies and needs.

Traveling extensively to events and barns around the world, Ms. Matt researches planning and construction methods, materials, and new technology, to adequately advise her clients. She has published articles on barn design, equine culture and land use, given lectures on related topics, and covers events in the US and Europe for the USEA, USEF, the Chronicle of the Horse and Eventing Magazine(UK).

Since being awarded a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1980, Ms. Matt has contributed to countless architectural endeavors individually and as part of a design team nationally. In addition to work performed by Pegasus Design Group and independent consulting projects, Ms. Matt’s expertise has been utilized by Klipp Architecture, DHM Design Landscape Architects, Bennett Wagner Grody Architects, Barrett Studio Architects, Hoover Berg Desmond Architects, Long Hoeft Architects for Historic Preservation, the National Park Service, Chevron Land Development Company, and Equitable Real Estate as well as a vast array of public and private clients.
